I feel strongly about terrorism!

I feel that terrorism is a worrying issue.

Terrorists are an enemy that you cannot see.

We can all help prevent terrorism.

Does terrorism worry you? It certainly worries me; I used to like visiting London and going shopping, now I worry about being blown up. I also worry for the people that live and have to work in London, I can after all go home to the country when I have finished shopping; although is terrorism everywhere? I feel that everyone should take a little responsibility and be vigilant.

We all need to take care and look out for each other.

What is Terrorism?

In my opinion terrorism is:

Evil people or groups of people that use violence for political purposes.

Most people would agree that the attacks on the US, Spain and London were acts of terrorism, serious violence against innocent people.

News and Stories...

Suicide bombers struck Central London on Thursday 7th July 2005, injuring over 770 people, 52 were killed.

As the morning rush hour came to a close, the transport systems were hit by four bombers - Hasib Hussain, Mohammad Sidique Khan, Germaine Lindsay and Shehzad Tanweer.

Three bombs went off at around 9am on the underground trains at: Edgware Road, King's Cross and Russell Square.

The fourth explosion went off on a bus at Tavistock Place an hour later.

9/11 Terror Attacks Hit the USA...

A series of organised terror attacks were committed upon the United States on Tuesday September 11th 2001, targeting innocent workers in the World Trade Centre in New York.

The 19 criminals were associated with a terrorist group called: Al-Qaeda. They hijacked four commercial passenger jet airliners. Two of these planes were deliberately crashed into the Twin Towers - World Trade Centre, one into each tower killing a confirmed 2,973 people and another 24 people are still listed as missing.

The third plane was crashed into the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia. The fourth plane crashed into a field near the town of Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

The world was stunned by this attack!

What You Can Do To Help Prevent Terrorism...

If you hear, see or come across anything that may be linked to terrorism please inform the police.

It is difficult to know who is a terrorist, but the following points may help:

Terrorists need:

  • A place to live: are you suspicious about any of your neighbours?
  • To plan: have you seen anyone paying particular attention to security measures in any location?
  • Money: They may have set up bogus bank accounts. People who work in the financial industry will be on the look out.
  • Equipment: If you own a shop/business, are you suspicious about anything being bought. For example: bomb making equipment.

Be vigilant: Look out for suspicious behaviour.

***Inform the police of anything suspicious***
